FAMILY OWNED & OPERATED
PROUDLY SERVING THE UPSTATE
Hello, Greenville!
I started painting when I was 19 — my first real job. A few years later, when I was dating my now-wife Alexandria, her parents needed their townhouse painted. I said I’d do it in exchange for one month of health insurance and a trip to Disney World. They loved the work and started referring me to their neighbors. Within a year and a half, I had a painting business.
We started as First Class Painting Service in 2008. TruCare came later — after a hard season of life where I lost focus and got distant with my customers. A tough conversation with one homeowner made it clear: they didn’t just need a quality paint job, they needed to feel like we cared. That became the mission. TruCare means “We Truly Care” — and it shows up in our communication, our craftsmanship, our cleanliness, and the attitude we bring to every job: humble, grateful, and fully present.
Alexandria and our kids are my why. When they see TruCare on that van, I want them to be proud of what the name stands for.

FAQs: Hiring Painters in Greenville, SC
Choosing the right painting company can feel overwhelming, especially if you've dealt with unclear quotes, poor communication, or rushed work in the past. These FAQs cover the questions homeowners ask most, from pricing and prep to timelines, warranties, and what to expect during the process, so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.
The right painter will do more than give you a quick quote and a promise. Look for a company that can clearly explain their process, their prep standards, and how they protect your home throughout the project. You should be able to see real photos of past work, read verified reviews, and receive a detailed written scope that shows exactly what's included and what's not. Ask about their warranty, how they handle communication, and what happens during the final walkthrough. A company worth hiring welcomes those questions — because transparency is part of doing the job right.
Costs vary based on the size of the space, surface conditions, the amount of prep required, product selection, and the level of detail involved. Two quotes that look similar on paper can be very different in what's actually included — which is why a low price often comes with trade-offs like rushed prep, fewer coats, or shortcuts that show up months later. At TruCare, our proposals outline the scope clearly so you can compare fairly — prep steps, number of coats, surfaces included, expected timeline, and warranty details. You're not just paying for paint. You're paying for the preparation, the skill, the protection of your home, and a smoother overall experience.
A detailed quote should read like a clear plan, not a mystery. Our proposals specify exactly what will be painted — walls, ceilings, trim, doors, exteriors, specific rooms or areas — what preparation is included, the number of coats expected, and the products we'll use. We also clarify scheduling, site protection, cleanup, and what the final walkthrough includes. The goal is to eliminate gray areas that cause stress later. When scope and expectations are confirmed up front, the project runs smoother, the finish turns out better, and you don't end up dealing with surprise add-ons or last-minute confusion.
Timelines depend on room count, ceiling height, the amount of trim detail, surface condition, and the level of prep required. One room can be completed quickly, but multi-room repaints, extensive patching, or detailed trim and door work can extend the schedule. At TruCare, we plan every project clearly — how long prep will take, when coats will be applied, and how we'll manage curing and reassembly. A clear, realistic timeline paired with good communication is what keeps your home comfortable while the work is being done.
In most cases, you don't need to empty an entire room. You'll want to clear smaller valuables and personal items, especially anything fragile. Larger furniture can be shifted to the center of the room and we protect it properly. We'll communicate before the start date so you know what to move, what can stay, and how we'll protect floors, furniture, and fixtures. If you work from home or have kids and pets, we'll discuss access, daily start and finish times, and which areas will be active zones. The goal is to make the process feel organized and respectful of your home.
Preparation is the difference between a paint job that looks good for a season and one that holds up for years. At TruCare, prep includes cleaning surfaces, scraping loose paint, sanding rough areas, patching holes and cracks, caulking gaps, spot-priming stains, masking edges, and protecting floors, furniture, and landscaping. The right prep depends on the surface and the conditions — exterior wood and trim require different steps than interior drywall, and cabinets require specialized prep for adhesion and durability. Great results start long before the first coat goes on.
Yes. Cabinet refinishing can absolutely be done while you're living in the home, but the experience depends on planning. We protect surrounding areas, control dust, manage ventilation, and set clear expectations for which parts of the kitchen will be accessible each day. We also provide guidance on curing time and how soon you can resume normal use. Because cabinets are high-touch surfaces, the process and product choice matter a lot for durability. When prep and application are done correctly, you get a smooth, consistent finish that looks factory-clean and stands up to daily use without the stress of a full renovation.
Yes. Every residential project is backed by a 5-year workmanship warranty covering peeling, cracking, and adhesion failure through proper surface prep and correct application. But the best way to use a warranty is to never need it — which is why preparation and product choice are so important. When you pair that with clear communication and a thorough final walkthrough, you get confidence that the work was done right and that support is available if something unexpected happens.
The final walkthrough is where the project becomes complete — not just finished. We walk through every room together, inspect the work, confirm the agreed scope has been completed, and check the details that matter most — edges, trim lines, smoothness, touch-up areas, and clean coverage. This is also where you see a clean close-out: floors and surfaces are uncovered, materials are removed, the space is tidied, and any final care instructions are shared. A good walkthrough isn't rushed — it's a structured handoff that makes sure you feel confident and satisfied before we leave.
We recommend reaching out as early as you can, especially during the busy spring and summer seasons when schedules fill up quickly. The sooner you connect with us, the more flexibility we have to schedule around your needs, and we always do our best to accommodate shorter notice when we can. During the estimate we give you a clear timeline and we stick to it.
